Aerial Real Estate Photography Pricing in SLO County
Updated October 28, 2026 · Pricing
Aerial real estate photography pricing at The Showing Studio is not a flat fee: aerial photos and aerial video are add-ons priced together with the rest of the shoot, based on the home's living area. Build the shoot on /book/ and the price updates live, and adding more add-ons unlocks bundle savings.
Agents ask about aerial pricing more than almost any other add-on, usually in one of two ways: "What does it cost?" and "Is it worth it on this listing?" This post answers both for San Luis Obispo County, without quoting numbers that would be out of date the moment the shoot changes. The live price for your exact listing is always on /book/.
How is aerial photography priced for a listing?
Every booking starts with the same base: listing photography, a floor plan showcase with measurements, and a customizable .com property website. That base is priced by the home's living area, so a two-bedroom condo and a large ranch home are not charged the same.
Aerials sit on top of that base as add-ons. You choose aerial photos, aerial video, or both, alongside anything else the listing needs. A few things shape the final number:
- The size of the home. Living area sets the starting point for the whole shoot.
- Which aerial add-ons you pick. Aerial photos and aerial video are separate choices, so you only pay for the one the listing needs.
- How many add-ons are in the order. More add-ons unlock bundle savings across the shoot.
- Where the listing is. San Luis Obispo city listings get 10% off.
- How fast you need it. RUSH! delivery is an add-on of its own.
Because the price is built from those pieces, the honest answer to "how much are aerials?" is: build the shoot you actually want and look at the total. It takes about a minute. Our post on building your own real estate photography package walks through the whole order form.

Aerial photos or aerial video: which should you pay for?
They do different jobs, and plenty of listings only need one.
Aerial photos are stills. They show the lot, the roofline, the neighborhood and what sits nearby: the ocean, open space, vineyards, a park, a school. They go straight into the MLS gallery and the property website, and they are usually the better first choice when the budget is tight.
Aerial video is motion. It carries a buyer from the setting to the front door and works hardest in places where people scroll: social media, the property website, email campaigns. If you are already planning video reels for the listing, aerial footage makes them feel bigger.
A rough way to decide:
- The setting is part of the price (acreage, views, location near the water): aerial photos at minimum.
- The listing is a marketing centerpiece for you or the seller, with paid social or a launch campaign: add aerial video.
- The home sells on its interior and sits on a standard lot: aerials may not move the needle.
Which San Luis Obispo County listings justify the aerial add-on?
The county makes this easier than most places, because so many listings are defined by what is around them.
- Acreage and rural homes in Templeton, Paso Robles, Creston, Nipomo and the hills around Arroyo Grande. A ground photo cannot show where the property lines run or how the outbuildings, pasture and driveway fit together.
- Vineyard and wine-country properties, where the land is part of the product.
- Coastal homes in Pismo Beach, Shell Beach, Avila Beach, Cayucos, Cambria, Los Osos and Morro Bay, where buyers want to know how close the water really is.
- View lots on hillsides, where the view from above explains the view from inside.
- New construction neighborhoods like Avila Ranch in San Luis Obispo, where buyers want to see parks, paths and how the community is laid out.
Our longer guide to aerial photography for real estate on the Central Coast goes deeper on each of these.

When is aerial not worth adding?
We would rather you spend the money where it shows. Aerials tend to add the least when:
- The home is a condo or townhome in a dense complex, and the sky view is mostly rooftops.
- The lot is small and the neighbors are the main thing visible from above.
- The selling points are all inside: a remodeled kitchen, a great layout, finishes buyers will want to see up close. In that case a 3D/360 virtual tour or virtual staging usually does more.
If you are not sure, tell us about the listing when you book. A quick description of the lot and what is nearby is usually enough to know whether aerials will earn their place.
How do bundle savings change the math?
Adding more add-ons unlocks bundle savings, so aerials can cost less in practice when they are part of a fuller order. A common coastal combination is photos plus aerial photos plus a twilight exterior session or virtual twilight. A common acreage combination is photos plus aerial photos plus aerial video. In both cases, adding the second or third add-on is where the savings start to show.
That is also why it pays to plan the marketing for the listing up front, rather than adding aerials after the photos are already live. One visit, one order, one bundle.
Who pays for aerial photos, the agent or the seller?
That is between you and your client. Some agents cover all listing media as part of their service; others include standard photos and let the seller decide on extras like aerials and twilight. Our post on who pays for listing photos covers the common arrangements. Whoever pays, the results land in the agent's client portal, ready to share with the seller.
What can affect aerials on shoot day?
Aerials depend on conditions more than interiors do. Strong wind, rain and low coastal fog can all affect what is possible, and some locations have airspace limits. If conditions are not right for aerials on the day, we will talk with you about the best next step. Agents with a firm go-live date should book a little early to leave room in the schedule.
Delivery timing matches the rest of the shoot: photos within 24 hours, video in 24 to 48 hours, and faster with RUSH!.
What should sellers do before an aerial shoot?
Aerials see everything a ground photo leaves out, so the prep list grows a little. Before the shoot, ask your sellers to:
- Clear the roof and gutters of leaves, branches and anything that has blown up there.
- Tidy the whole yard, not just the front: side yards, the area behind the garage, dog runs and compost corners all show from above.
- Uncover the pool or spa and skim the surface, or keep the cover neat and fully closed.
- Move cars, trailers and boats out of the driveway and off the lot if they can.
- Put away toys, tools and hoses, and stack firewood or move it out of the main views.
For acreage, it also helps to mow the areas closest to the house and close gates consistently, so the lines of the property read clearly. Our seller prep sheet covers the rest of the house.
